The situation suddenly feels absurd. Surreal. Made-up. Like there is an invisible string tugging from his limbs and tangling around his brain and manipulating what he thinks and what he says and what he does, a string that hides in plain sight and only operates in the fringes of awareness, vanishing as soon as one realizes the possibility of its existence.
The sensation passes as swiftly as it appeared, leaving him disoriented for a second, and he truly has to wonder now if the wackiness he has felt all evening is not just the unfamiliar heat and the foreign land and all his days at sea, if something about what he read on the reports—the dismantlement of the Akasha system, the tampered dreams, the failed god project—still lingers around Sumeru like a byproduct of that whole mess.
Before leading his entourage to a campaign in the Sumeru desert, Childe has to spend a night in Port Ormos, where he meets with old acquaintances and a mysterious man that immediately catches his attention. Inviting this stranger for a friendly duel, however, ends up turning into a much more interesting experience than he was anticipating.
Set post-Inversion of Genesis.

Summary
Scaramouche has worked as a book clerk for a couple of years now. The store he owned was next to a vacant lot that had been that way since he opened up shop. He didn’t mind it since it meant work was quiet and he didn’t have to deal with any annoying neighbors.
However, that all changed when that empty building was finally bought. Scaramouche didn’t realize how much he was going to dread the person moving in until he found out that the person who bought the lot was opening a cake shop. A shop filled with sickeningly sweet treats and tooth-rotting filth was going to be right next to him. Even though he hates sweets he hates the guy who owns it more. He constantly tries to bombard him with new desserts that he would rather choke on than enjoy.
Scaramouche would avoid ever talking to the guy if he didn’t keep checking out books and then refusing to return them until he went over to get them back. He doesn’t want to form a friendship and he definitely doesn’t want to eat the food he brings him but the boy refuses to give up until he wins him over. As he says…it’s just a matter of time before he falls victim to his charming smile.

Childe sang, “Honeyyy, I’m ho—” before his voice died when he saw Scaramouche on the bed, his jaw dropping and eyes widening almost comically as a crimson flush quickly crept up his neck and into his cheeks. An aborted, strangled sound caught in his throat.
Scaramouche smiled, his stomach light with giddiness, and casually said, “Oh, hey.”
Childe stood frozen for several long seconds, stunned into silence. Scaramouche really couldn’t blame him.
Scaramouche decided to tease him a bit more, and rolled over onto his stomach with a sigh, lifting his hips off the bed and settling onto his knees so the younger man could get an unobstructed view of the jewel between his legs. He looked over his shoulder coquettishly and Childe swallowed as his eyes raked across his body, his pupils blown.
Scaramouche arched his back lazily, resting his cheek on his forearms as he bit back a grin. “Happy birthday.”

Summary
Scaramouche isn't particularly fond of parties, and he's even less fond of this one: he only agreed to come because Kazuha—his current boyfriend—asked him to. Ten minutes later he's sitting on the stairs alone, boyfriendless, holding a lukewarm beer he doesn't even like, and witnessing the messy breakup of two people he doesn't particularly care about: Childe and Lumine.
After that messy breakup and a brief, horrible conversation with Ajax, he ends up getting an even more horrible drive home from him.
Following that encounter, it's like fate has bound them together—they just keep getting paired up against their will: same class, same club, same social circle... Maybe when two people are running away from everything, they'll find themselves accidentally running away with each other.
Or: a story about Childe pissing Scara off a lot and Scara wanting to bite Childe's head off.
