The mission was meant to be simple: get in, eliminate the grouping, get out.
On one hand, he understood why the problem needed to be dealt with swiftly. Groupings had all the makings of a pack without any of the structures in place to keep things in order. They could bulldoze towns if left to their own devices, stirring up problems with packs nearby and escalating to the point of terrorist level operations if allowed to grow large enough.
On the other hand, he could deal without being sent to rural Russia in the winter.

He let himself imagine it then. Just for a second. A warm hand, not his. A voice—low, familiar—telling him it was okay. That he could let go.
He gasped at the thought, fingers curling in the sheets, shame flooding his chest so fast it made his throat tighten.
He can’t ever know.
But oh, god, he wanted him to.
The door clicked open downstairs.
San didn’t hear it—not at first. Not through the haze. Not over the soft sounds he was making into Mingi’s pillow, muffled and quiet and ruined.
