    It started off as a normal day. Until Maomao accidentally rescues an innocent baby from execution.
    A noblewoman named Gyokuyou, who’s entire family was sentenced to death, shoved her baby into the young apothecary’s arms, begging her to keep Lingli safe—and never returned. Without thinking, Maomao takes the baby girl with her, changing Lingli’s name to Xiaoling and begins to raise the little girl in secret with the help of her adoptive father and sisters.

    Four years later, Lingli’s older brother—the missing Zuigetsu now renamed Jinshi—appears to demand answers. What started off as a debt of gratitude transforms into a dangerous game of politics and passion. To clear his family’s name, Jinshi needs Maomao’s help to infiltrate the fortress of the Shi clan, whom hold the answers to why his family was executed.

    But working together ignites an undeniable attraction from both of them and Maomao now has to step carefully between keeping her new family safe and the love that could destroy everything she holds precious.

    AU world where Jinshi isn’t a prince but the son of a noble who is hellbent on revenge and a softened Maomao who played the role of a caretaker to a baby.
