She pulled back the Epoch’s trigger and released immediately, striking the devastator square in the chest, the explosion blasting them back against the wall the next split-second.
By the time she clawed herself back to her feet, stumbling to and fro like a sailboat in a choppy sea, the Automatons had surrounded them in force, lining the tops of the walls like crenellations. Rees was still down, trapped by the red bolts above his head. Her lungs spasmed as she filled them, and her own shout sounded miles away.
“WE SURRENDER!”

Rose stepped forward slowly, making sure to mind her cape as she sat down within the pod. The door closes slowly, Rose having to pull her new cape out of the way as it once again hisses, the cramped enclosure pressurizing lightly as it began to freeze over, crystals of ice forming and spreading out over the off-glass port, long spires climbing along her skin as she let out what would be her final breath.
It was all she wanted for over 20 years, so why did she feel so unaccomplished?

This is just that except instead of your friends, it's my brain cells, and the cluster bomb is anti-Super Earth propaganda. My democracy officer is on his way to my house with a shotgun.

Summary
For centuries, the government of Super Earth has claimed dominion over the stars and the galaxy, ensnaring its people with constant propaganda that asserts their righteousness and truth. This regime has waged war against any power within its sights, eagerly seizing the opportunity of conflict to expand its reach. The Terminids were defeated and forced into slavery to harvest their organic oil. The Illuminate were cornered into an unjust peace treaty, leaving them weakened and vulnerable. The cyborgs were crushed into submission, their people compelled to obey the whims of Super Earth.
It seems there is no end in sight for this cold avatar of Democracy, with its legions of super soldier Helldivers and vast fleets of destroyer ships. However, with the resurgence of the Terminid rebellion, a new faction has emerged on the galactic stage, poised to deliver justice against Super Earth.
The Automatons have arrived, ready to shatter the status quo.
