Summary
Eddie’s not a complete idiot. He knows this isn’t normal. He stands in front of a mirror in his underwear, the tightest pair he owns, and he poses for a picture at an angle he’s learned flatters his ass and the curve of his thigh, to send to his best friend.
He knows this isn’t what most best friends do. He also knows most straight guys don’t spend extensive amounts of time staring at men’s thirst trap accounts, or thinking about how their best friends look half-naked, but…
That’s not what Eddie is focusing on right now. He’s just focusing on feeling good, following the path that sparkles with joy, and refusing to overthink it. If happiness is Buck sending a meme of a guy with a nosebleed back to his shirtless selfie, then that’s what happiness is. Eddie has spent too long denying himself to let this be what stops his journey towards loving himself.
It doesn’t need to make sense. It just needs to be positive.
It’s not like he’s breaking any commandments, as Father Brian would say.

Summary
And Eddie’s not jealous, of course not, that’s Buck’s thing. He thinks wryly of Tommy and sprained ankles, and an embarrassing fondness fills his chest. Buck’s so— Buck, wholly and completely, and Eddie misses him, is all. But that’s not why he’s doing it, honest. These people don’t appreciate Buck for who he is, not the way Eddie does. He just wants the best for Buck, okay?
***
Eddie brings Christopher home from Texas to find that in his absence, Buck’s started sleeping around.
Eddie is completely normal about that.
(Or, Eddie starts cockblocking Buck. Things escalate from there.)

Summary
“We need to talk,” Josh says.
“About what?” Eddie asks. If he were sober, he might feel at least a little bit bad about the pure incredulity in his tone, but as it is, he’s an unknown number of unknown cocktails deep, and can’t get past the fact that he and Josh literally haven’t spoken since Eddie quit dispatch—including at Maddie’s wedding.
“Tommy,” Josh says.
“Tommy?” Eddie asks.
“Tommy,” Josh confirms, nodding solemnly, "and the fact that you hate him."
Or, Josh and Eddie finally have something in common.

Summary
When Eddie wakes, it’s to Buck’s arm slung across his chest, Buck’s ankle hooked over his, and Buck’s erection pressing into his hip.
Two out of three of those aren’t unusual.
It’s six weeks since the lightning. Five weeks and two days since Buck woke up. Four weeks and three days since he was released from hospital. Four weeks exactly since he came home, came to stay at the Diaz house while he recuperates, like he should have from the start.
It’s been three weeks and four days since they started sharing the bed.
or: Buck hasn't gotten off since the lightning strike. Eddie watches him do something about it.

Summary
"Though—and I know you probably don't want to talk about it, but since you and Natalia are over with now, I've been wondering…" Maddie pauses, watches Buck make a face like he's bracing to be smacked. "What happened with Eddie?"
Buck stops wincing and just blinks at her for a second. Then he says, "What?"
"You two were dancing around it for so long, and then… what, it just didn't work out? Was the date really that bad?"
She's expecting another wince, or even for him to duck out of the conversation entirely, but instead Buck is staring at her like she's grown a second head. "Maddie. I've never been on a date with Eddie."
-
Or: the poker game was a date. It takes Buck a while to catch on, though.
