Until her father called, summoning his best, giving her some secret, some unknown quest. Night after night, into darkness she crept, thinking she was sneaky while her master slept, but as she tore through bloody muscle and bone, her master sat by the fire, waiting alone. For the cat always awoke as their bed turned cold, but the mouse could keep her silence - he had an agreement to uphold. Then one night, she didn’t come back, and though she’d been his darkness, his world turned to black. He thought he understood what she so frequently said - when her bloodlust stirs, she always dreams in red. He swore he’d find her and bring her back home, but the cat had to be mindful of her father's throne. When he finally found her abandoned and lost, he thought that the parasite was the only cost, but soon he realized her memories were gone, and with them, their past, their love, their bond.
