Summary
A common cold was certainly enough to make one miserable, but it didn't exactly create a wound he could heal. The body's own processes would dispel the sickness in time, Anders knew, and interfering with said processes through magical means could cause complications.
Hawke knew this too; Anders had told him often enough, including just this morning.
The thing about Hawke was that, despite his usual bravado, he was a stunningly miserable patient. Particularly when it came to illness. The man was far better behaved when he'd been run through.

Summary
Anders felt the tension a split-second before it happened, the shifting of Ser Pounce from idle dangling to pure, instinctive focus. With a sudden leap, Ser Pounce was flying across the table, heedless of any interruption (or, indeed, of the startled shouts of the Wardens whose dinners he was upending) after Maker only knew what. The cat left a trail of destruction in his wake before jumping wildly into the air, paws flailing, and falling off the end of the table onto the floor.
For a moment, stunned silence reigned, other than a mnom nom nom growly sound emanating from Ser Pounce.
"Good news," Sigrun said at last, giving Anders a sardonic grin. "The fly has been put out of its misery."
OR: Anders discovers found family in Vigil's Keep, with the help of one Ser Pounce-a-Lot.
