Kate was officially Hawkeye 2.0. She was real superhero now! But she was also a post-grad student that just got fast-tracked into becoming New York's youngest CEO. Now, at 24 years old and well-established with her team of Young Avengers, she was supposed to be kicking butt and saving lives.
She was definitely not supposed to be dragging unconscious, drunk assassins into her apartment and forcing them to become her friend, but that was what happened. Of course.

Summary
Yelena squares her shoulders and lifts her head up, ready for a fight. There’s a hundred arguments on the tip of her tongue, but when her eyes lock with Kate’s every single one of them falls away. What she sees on Kate’s blue eyes is so familiar that she had never seen it anywhere but in the mirror, and it feels like diving head first into ice cold water.
She takes a step back and raises her hands as a sign of peace much like Kate had done a few minutes earlier, choosing to deescalate the situation before Kate draws her bow and she finds out if third time really is the charm.
“You really should’ve just given the flash drive to us,” Yelena says with a tired sigh.
“You should’ve asked nicely.”
Or: Set after the events of Thunderbolts*, Kate and Yelena are searching for their purpose when they cross paths and find that maybe they're more similar than they once thought. And maybe they don't have to search alone.

Yelena arched an eyebrow. "Oh, that's always dangerous."
"No, c'mon. Just hear me out, I think I have a way to get you out of this."
That piqued Yelena's interest; she had gotten used to this life and wasn't looking forward to running from the American government just because Eleanor Bishop was being petty. "Fine, but if it involves boomerang arrows, I am walking away."
"We're in your bedroom. Where would you go?"
"To your place and leave you here. I would lock you out, too."
With a sigh, Kate finally turned to look at Yelena, her face more serious than Yelena had been expecting. "We could always get married."
