Summary
About six months after the events of Monsters, INC., the monster world is in crisis. Fear shortages rock the continent as one of its largest refiners closes its doors in preparation to switch to Laughter. Desperate to pick up the slack, companies like Fear CO push top-line scarers into scaring more and more kids, even as they struggle to keep the doors on.
Scarer Johnny Worthington III has already had way too many close calls during this time, but it all comes to a head when he’s forced to flee a home in sunny Arcadia Oaks, California, on the same night two human-world monsters have a battle of the fates under a familiar overpass. The resulting lunacy causes quite a few problems, and very few of them can be solved with a roar.

Summary
You weren't a technician, you weren't a security guard, you weren't a daycare assistant. You're just an employee. Staff. The ‘jack-of-all-trades’ employee with mediocre at best skills and specialty in none, tasked with doing miscellaneous jobs that robots couldn't do and human staff couldn't care to. The job is unpredictable, but it pays good and it's relatively easy.
Except for the part where all the animatronics are more sentient than you thought, and you're roped into a mystery surrounding the Daycare Attendants, who are bit too curious about you for your liking.

In an attempt to get the Arkenstone back for Thorin, Bilbo discovers the ring he's been using is the One Ring. Seized by a need to destroy gold, especially gold with the ability to ensnare creature and king alike, he sets out alone for Mordor. Anything to forget about the love that gold cost him.
What he doesn't know is that Thorin is no longer under the thrall of gold, and is desperately racing to catch up with him to keep him safe.
They may have just started on another adventure, but this one may not end as well as their first quest.
