Forehead against the table, Sukuna shivers at the memory. He sits there, waiting and guilty. He wouldn't have changed it anyway, he knows. The guilt eats him alive but the love makes him whole again every morning. He hates what he has done but cannot and would not change it. He can only go forward and live with it. He carries it with him at each unanswered text, every time Choso glances at him, at every questioning look in Megumi's eyes. It lives with him, encompassing almost enough to kill him but then, he looks up and when he sees Megumi, it's always worth it. It hurts but Sukuna has never been someone to shy away from pain. He endures, because that's his role. For Yuuji, he endures.

Yuuji didn't know who she was.
Everyday after school, she would be sitting on the same bench as always, close to the park, eyes slanted towards the sky until Yuuji came near. Then, as always, she would straighten up, eyes turning to him immediatly, as if she knew he was in her line of sight. Her eyes a warm amber, like the same brand of honey he would slather on his toast while his grandpa scolded him for spilling sticky liquid everywhere. She would look at him weirdly, her stare fixed on him, and him only. Gaze roaming on his figure, as if she saw him for the first time every time.

"I don't date," Sasuke heard himself say. The words were out before his brain could catch up, tumbling into the space between them with more force than he'd intended.

And it’s finally quiet, in the hospital. Dark enough without the overhead lights that the entire wing feels calm and his body doesn’t twitch uncomfortably at the constant surveillance he’s under during the day. It’s quiet, and he’s alone.
Every day that he’s been out of surgery, that’s about the moment Izuku shows up.
He’s less and less unprepared for the sound of his door being opened at this hour, the mechanical click from the handle and the heavy, low squeak of the panel shifting slowly ajar. It’s been about a week, now. Even the first time, Katsuki had a hard time feeling the shock he tells himself he maybe should have.
Instead, like every other time, he feels relief.

Naruto's arm was around his shoulder, entirely unnecessarily, as they sat at the table. He seemed perfectly at ease making charming conversation with Sasuke's family, as if this were all perfectly natural—as if Sasuke had actually invited him, rather than Naruto having gone behind his back to ensure he arrived at the family dinner looking like an invited guest. As if they were actually dating.
Sasuke shot him an annoyed look over the chrysanthemums.
Naruto turned. There it was: that slightly antagonistic look he always got when Sasuke challenged him, the one that said he was challenging Sasuke right back. He took a food tray from Mikoto, slipping into the conversation without missing a beat. "Well, you know we've been thinking about it since Sasuke and I got engaged."
Sasuke nearly dropped his pomegranate juice all over his grandmother's prized white tablecloth.
