Summary
I started writing this because I wanted something specific from the Cardan POV fics during Jude's imprisonment in the Undersea but then I just kept going further back in the timeline so uh here's all of The Cruel Prince from Cardan's POV. My goal is to make this a three-part work with each part corresponding to one of the main trilogy books, but I am simply following the serotonin so we will see if we make it that far.

If Jax really didn’t care, he would watch on eagerly as she pulled the trigger on herself. Hell— he’d probably even laugh. Cartoon logic— she’ll give him just that.
Pomni takes a deep breath. “I understand.”
Disturbingly calm, she turns over her shoulder. She presses the barrel to the space between her eyes, and pulls the trigger.
The circus, and everything in it, goes dark.

Much has changed in the wake of the bloodbath coronation. Vivi and Jude escaped and settled into a mortal life, Madoc rules Elfhame, Balekin disappeared with the blood crown, and Cardan was spirited away to the Undersea by Nicasia. Ten years pass. Jude blossoms into a competent barista and a semi-normal human. She lives a life of quiet anonymity in the city and brews a damn fine cup of coffee. Just don't get on her bad side, or she'll poison your latte with decaf.
It would be a shame if a certain someone snaked his way into her life again. Pun fully intended. Seriously, he's going to be a big ass snake.

For years he's despised her. For years he has looked down on her and made her feel misery the likes of which torment him, but now everything has changed. All he feels is disgust and contempt, both for himself and for Jude Duarte. How has he been plagued by these thoughts of her? Her, the mortal filth parading around Faerie as though she was one of them. He hated her, and he has a plan to make her run, but only if his brain starts to work, his heart slows, and he is able to keep it in his pants.
The rights to the original series The Folk of the Air do not belong to me. The world and books belong to the author Holly Black.

A relatively small act of honesty and trust sends Jude and Cardan down a different path. Flirting and pining ensue.
“Do not go to bed alone tonight.”
He tilts his head and raises his eyebrows. “Is that— ” but I interrupt before he can finish the thought.
“Think of it as a sincere and urgent request.”
“If I didn’t know better, it would sound like you care for me.” A small smile creeps on his lips.
“It’s a good thing you do know better,” I say. His smile remains, but his eyes narrow at me. “Your death would cause me a headache and I am quite busy.”
“Very well. Do you have any recommendations?”Formally "This Feels Like a Date." The fic has evolved a lot and the old title hasn't made sense since chapter 6.
