    On her own for the first time, Surge the Tenrec lives in a small Central City apartment. When one morning, she gets a call from her mother. Surge lets it go to voicemail and listens as her mother berates her for perceived inadequacies. Out of spite, Surge decides to skip work and spend the day in bed. After all, it's almost 110 degrees outside! But after the call of a rumbling stomach lurches her out of bed, the sight of an empty cabinet and dirty clothes instills in her the necessity of chores. If only there was something more to life, something that gave it purpose. Maybe this flyer she found at the Laundromat has the answers. “Dr. Starline's hero program” sounds like a scam. But let's be honest, what does she have to lose? Anything is probably better than this.
