Nikolai Gogol has not considered himself a religious man, per se. The idea of it is– chaining, to say the least. It goes against his ideals of true freedom, of breaking free of humanity. Such frivolous things, emotions and feelings and pacts and relationships. Nikolai does not fancy any of that. He believes– he believes in himself and himself only. Why must there be any god other than he? So– no, Nikolai Gogol is not religious.
At the very least, he isn’t until Fyodor Dostoevsky has the gall to saunter into his life.

Summary
A mere month before the royal tour- in which the crown princess of Khura'in will visit each of the seven realms before she ascends to the throne- Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, royal regent, has a problem. The princess, already troublesome at the best of times, has become obsessed with tales of the Jackdaw- a notorious outlaw who has taken the realms by storm, his exploits inspiring an entire cottage industry of trashy penny dreaduls.
Still, so long as Nahyuta can keep the public from finding out that their future queen is a devoted fan of a violent vigilante- in fact, so long as he can avoid the topic of said vigilante altogether- everything should be perfectly fine.
Avoidance of the Jackdaw, however, is about to become nigh impossible.

He's not about to fall into the tired clichés of going to a restaurant or the cinema, but he does want an excuse to put everything he has on display so that Nahyuta has a fair chance to run away if he realises that dating an ex-convict isn't for him.

If you should ever be so inclined, Morioh is a great destination for a summer of wonder. The beaches are crystal clear, the townsfolk are friendly and cheerful, and there's a particular restaurant that is so divine, well, it'll make you cry about it.
Oh, and most curious of all? Why, that would be the oft-whispered rumour that on certain days, if you are ever so lucky- you might meet a real life mermaid. Imagine that!
