Steve and Eddie are close. The whole party knows that; it’s not a secret. But they’re close in the way they’re all close, right? The bonds of trauma, or something like that. They’re close like Steve and Robin are close, like Jonathan and Argyle are close, like Will and El are close.
Right?
Slowly, Will turns back around and peeks around the corner again.
Snippets of their conversation float over to him. Steve is adding chocolate chips to the batter and Eddie is leaning up against the counter next to him, one arm looped loosely around Steve’s waist, the other reaching into the bowl to steal chocolate chips and nibble on them.
Eddie rests his chin on Steve’s shoulder and hums. “Is this what it’s gonna be like when we have those six little Harringtons? You makin’ breakfast every morning?”
Or: Will wakes up early after a sleepover at the Harrington house. He sees something in the kitchen he wasn't meant to see, which prompts the realization that he might not be as alone as he thought.

“You’re such an asshole,” Steve says, punctuating the words by grabbing one of Eddie’s ankles and starting to tickle him. He’d done it without even thinking about it, which maybe that was weird, but Eddie’s laughing now and squirming, trying to kick his feet out of Steve’s firm grip.
“Fuck you, man! That’s cheating!”
“Yeah, well, I’m gonna have to pick popcorn out of my hair for the rest of the night, so deal with i—”
The last word isn’t even out of his mouth before Eddie reaches over and upturns the entire rest of the bowl onto his head.

They've just got to do a bit of surveillance to work this puzzle out. If Mike accidentally finds out he has feelings for his best friend along the way then... well, shit.
“At least I’m not using binoculars.” Mike shoots a derisive look over at Dustin. “Like we’re not in the middle of the high street, if they spot us how are you going to explain away those, huh?”
“Bird watching,” says Dustin. “My new hobby.”
Lucas punches him on the arm. “God you’re so fucking stupid.”
