Summary
Zanka stood still, leaning against the concrete wall of an abandoned building as he carefully observed his surroundings. In the distance, he could hear the faint sound of people chatting, probably coming from the bar he had passed before ducking into that run-down alley. Around him, the air lingered still, almost uncannily so. Before then, he would’ve never hung out in such a place, but alas dire times required dire measures.
Suddenly, he felt a shift in the air, along with a faint smell of gasoline. It had been almost imperceptible, like a cat landing on the rooftop of a house, but he instinctively glanced up and his fingers tightened around his staff. Surprisingly, he was met with a pair of magenta eyes looking directly at him with a curious expression. However, Zanka could soon see a wide grin appearing on the person’s face before they jumped down from the windowsill where they were perched on and landed right in front of him.
“You’re a new face here, how did you know of this place?”

People got lost here all the time. The place was a maze. Usually adults, looking to buy something illegal and ending up getting sold illegally instead. Kids were different. They cried and panicked. They, for sure, didn’t fight back.
And yet this one was.
He grabbed the kid and started walking, tugging him along without much thought. He didn’t know where he was going. Or why. He just knew he wanted to spend more time with him.
There was a tug in his chest. He felt… happy.

Zanka has a weird accent—he'll use southern slang like yer and da but he'll also use an interesting Japanese dialect. Being the only Japanese one, he mostly uses English but sometimes it's a bit difficult.
Or Zanka and his bilingual struggles.
Or or five times Zanka's accent baffled people and one time someone understood perfectly.
