Over the years Cas as gotten better at reading tone and body language, and he’s especially sensitive to change of such when he’s little. “He’ll be back soon,” he promises, rubbing the angel’s back from where he sits on Sam’s lap, face pressed against his neck as he weeps. “And then you can spend all night with him, and all tomorrow, too. Doesn’t that sound good?”

Castiel drops into his regressed state in the bunker when Dean isn’t there. There’s misery, a lot of tears, and a healthy dose of cuddles as he and Sam await Dean’s return.

Even after his father is dead, Dean doesn’t stop hunting; and it’s not as if he should, but he doesn’t let Sam rush headfirst into danger even when Sam wants to, and he doesn’t let Castiel protect him, either, because he still lives in that place in his mind that tells him this is his responsibility, and he’ll get no help from anyone.
Just a short and sweet fic about Cas trying to convince Dean he doesn't have to carry the world on his shoulders.

This fic is a retelling of first half of S9 from Cas's POV (via Cas's journal). Lots of Cas angst/loneliness and a correspondingly equal volume of Dean guilt. Sick fic, hurt/comfort, journal fic, and a Christmas fic too.
NO SLASH but the entire thing features a strong Cas/Dean friendship.
Destiel readers: This entire fic can be read as pre-Destiel (or not, as you prefer), and if you would like to read it that way, I also wrote an optional, explicit, Destiel epilogue chapter just for you guys. :)

Little dean is playing salon with his Sammy and he accidentally cuts off Sam’s hair. And then he is crying and inconsolable because he thinks sam hates him. But daddy cas comes through for his boy and fixes sam’s hair with his grace and it ends with dean and sam brotherly cuddles! I just thought of the “5 minutes with some clippers” line lol

Summary
Sam, Dean, and Cas run into trouble fighting a witch. She's injected Dean with a truth serum, causing him to speak whatever comes to mind. The serum will only stop if Dean spills his deepest fear. Turns out he’s got a lot of abandonment and inadequacy issues, and Sam and Cas desperately try to tape him back together in the aftermath without making everything worse.
“That’s your deepest fear? For real?” Sam sounds like he can hardly believe it. “It’s not flying, or a beer shortage or something?”
Dean’s glad Sam hasn’t noticed the shift in Dean’s behavior recently. His extra clinginess, the way Dean’s been following them around like a lost dog since he got back from Hell. He refused to be in any room but theirs at the bunker, always keeping them within his line of sight, even during hunts.
Cas’ reprimanding, “Dean,” shakes him from his train of thought. Cas looks like a stern father, his brows furrowed and eyes full of disappointment. “That’s a stupid thing to fear.”
