“What are you doing here?” Touya doesn’t look happy. His arms are crossed on his chest and he looks kind of mad.
“I’m dead, I think,” Shouto replies.
“What a lame excuse. You are so dumb,” Touya replies, unimpressed.
“I’m sorry?” Shouto says, like a question. He’s not sure what he’s apologising for. After all, he’s the one who ended up dead.

Summary
Sundays are different. Both the best and the worst. The easiest and the most complicated. On Sundays, Shouto visits. He doesn’t look at him with morbid curiosity, he doesn’t talk about his regrets, he doesn’t search for an innocent child that doesn’t exist, he doesn’t pretend. But he arrives faithfully, on every Sunday, brimming with questions with a sincere need to know. It makes him feel not like a museum exhibit or a vengeful ghost, but like… a human. Like Touya-nii. A big brother to an annoying little pest who wants to know everything. His favorite color, the songs he used to listen to, his top 5 manga, if he’s ever been to Okinawa.
Touya answers sometimes, always mixing in complaints and reproaches, just to keep Shouto on his toes. When he does, Shouto doesn’t look away or look guilty. He listens and nod. And then the following week, he returns like a weird fairy godmother in the businesses of granting last wishes.

He drives to the airport with an unshakeable urge to pull over and turn around. He smokes four cigarettes in a row before he boards the plane, then chews an entire pack of gum on the flight to try and cover the worst of the smell.
He exits the airport half-hoping that Shane has chickened out of the whole thing. Then he spots him, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel in the most boring suburban dad car Ilya has ever had the misfortune of laying his eyes on, and he’s so happy to see him that his legs feel unsteady beneath his weight.

Summary
It’s like they’re in a fucked up game of relationship chicken now, increasingly doing things together that Shane can’t describe as anything other than domestic and romantic and boyfriend-like. They text constantly, detailing their days and sharing everything from complaints about teammates to jokes about other players in the league to the kind of quiet worries about family that don’t need to be responded to, just heard by another person.
Or maybe it’s like Schroedinger’s cat. As long as Shane doesn’t ask, doesn’t speak out loud, he can have this. It can exist, and it cannot exist at the same time as long as Shane doesn’t press too hard. Doesn’t want too much.
It feels increasingly like agony now that he’s realized that he loves Ilya.
...
Tunameltdown AU where Ilya makes him tuna melts and says his name and Shane doesn’t freak out and run away. Well, he does freak out, but he also stays. Or the one where Shane doesn’t realize that Ilya’s his boyfriend for a solid three months.
