Ethan Winters has, for the most part, mastered this whole "dad thing". Raising Rose and somehow Eveline, after everything he and Mia went through in the Village, made him get good, and fast. So when Chris mentions that he has a buddy who's also (kinda), a dad, Ethan can't help but be intruged. Rose had been pestering him to get more friends than just the Boulder Puncher™ anyway, so what better than to befriend a fellow dad?
Alternative Summary: Ethan has no idea that Leon isn't actually a dad, and he just collects traumatized grown(ish) women like Pokémon and mothers them.

It technically wasn't a violation of orders for Itachi to help foster Naruto's fuuinjutsu talent.
Hiruzen had only ordered away those who had a close relationship with Minato and Kushina. It just happened to be that practically anyone who could do anything about Naruto's treatment was on that list. It came with the territory of one being their leader and another being one of the friendliest people to ever exist in Konoha.
Technically, Itachi wasn't close to them while they were alive. He wasn't even in the academy yet when they died.
Genma just wished it didn't make it harder to keep Naruto out of Danzo's grubby little hands.
