After Eleven’s “death,” Mike is left behind with nothing but grief, memories, and the unbearable silence she once filled. While he struggles to move forward, Eleven’s journey doesn’t end, it begins in somewhere new. Far from everyone she’s ever known, she has to learn to cope with her new life while also trying to move on. Instead of a big time jump or a distant reunion, this is focus on their individual journeys, the grief of losing each other, their growth, and how their paths slowly begin to reconnect over time. There’s also a strong focus on relationships, especially Mike’s connections with those around him, and Eleven’s journey with her past, her identity, and her powers. Written in first person, this story aims to explore their emotions in a deep and intense way.

Terry just rocked. “Breathe. Sunflower. Rainbow…”
“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I have to be the one to tell you this. I’m so sorry I have to tell you at all.” He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his hands clasped together so tightly they shook.
“Jane— she— she died.” The words came out in a choked whisper. “Two years ago.” His throat closed.”

“Henry, I need medical attention—” Mike huffs, barging straight in, and the rest of his words immediately die in his throat.
There’s only one office on the camp’s grounds. Mike is sure Henry didn’t mention any others during the tour; was sure he pointed out this one as his. There’s four Counselor of the Year awards nailed above the window that check out, and a name plaque on the desk that says HENRY, and yet it is not Henry that Mike is currently looking at.
It’s a girl. A girl his age, which is humiliating enough—but then she looks up, startled, and she’s a really pretty girl his age that he’s just walked in on unannounced, and Mike decides that he obviously has to go and kill himself later.
