“Frankie, I…” Joe started, words trailing off as he realized this was exactly what it looked like.
Frank pushed away from the door, stepping into the room until he came to stand behind Joe’s chair, peering over his shoulder at the messy desk covered in sticky notes, with far too many having a bright red urgent scrawled across the top. Frank sighed, the noise sending a stabbing pain into Joe’s chest as he shrunk into himself, aching at the disappointed sound.
Frank leaned forward more, coaxing Joe’s face up with a hand on his chin, his other thumb rubbing gently at the bags under his eyes. Once he was sure Joey was looking at him, he said quietly, “You know better, baby.”

Frank goes away for a week. Joe overworks himself. Frank comes back and fixes him.
