On the whole, Dennis seemed like he wanted to forget his life before arriving in Pittsburgh, and Jack and Robby were happy to let him. If it was important, they thought, then Dennis would mention it. If he wanted or needed them to know something about his past, they trusted that he would tell them.
That didn’t mean they weren’t curious. They loved the boy and they wanted to know everything about him. The good, the bad, the ugly. But they wanted to know him on his terms. So they didn’t push.
Until they had a reason to, that is.
