Summary
Kyoya became alert to another presence in the room when a steaming cup of green tea scraped its way onto the wooden desk in front of him before being picked up and then set back down more gently, this time with a coaster.
Haruhi.
He lifted his makeshift blindfold to crack an eye open and pretended to study the drink.
“Nothing with more caffeine?” Kyoya had to rib at her or it would be too obvious that Haruhi’s little gestures actually meant something him.
Unlike Tamaki, Haruhi Fujioka actually did see the weaknesses and pain afflicting others, probably as a side effect of hiding so much of her own. She was less inclined to become the poster boy for anyone’s suffering as Tamaki often was, but she had her own methods— her own way of quietly healing. Haruhi was not a problem solver so much as a balm.
“You don’t like my instant coffee Kyoya-senpai, and you’d probably charge me if I made you any of the imported stuff we keep here.” she quipped. A sly but serene smile crept onto Kyoya’s face unbidden. He absolutely would have done that. Of course, he never had any intention of making Haruhi pay off her debt herself… but she didn’t need to know that.

“You cupped his face, Severus! Tenderly! Romantically!”
