But like the compulsion of her bloody urges, the impulse seized her as soon as she crossed the threshold of the city gate their first day there. A notion entered her worm-ridden, broken brain, that she was stepping into her own forgotten footprints…a dusty path, but still deep and trodden a thousand times before. Times she would never remember now, full of aches she couldn't help but feel. Even though they drifted through her mind untethered to any conscious memory.

Summary
