Summary
The Express Crew had once more decided to make a trip back onto The Xianzhou Luofu, after the events of the War Dance they wanted to check in on everybody before making the jump to the eternal and mysterious land of Ampherous. Bailu had also messaged Dan Heng about something of “Great importance!”, and needed him asap before they were to head off, so that was also another reason.
This time around though they would be bringing someone new along: Sunday. At first he had declined—he was still getting accustomed to this new life and thought going to a new planet would've been too much. But after some persuading (mostly coming from March 7th) Sunday agreed.

Summary
Pom-Pom froze in the doorway, their little blue eyes going wide. “Wh-what is all this?” they whispered, paws on their hips.
March, who had been sitting nearby, pressed a finger to her lips. “Shhh! He finally fell asleep. Don’t ruin it.”
Pom-Pom looked scandalized for a moment, sleeping in the lounge! On their carefully polished sofa! But then they noticed the way everyone had quietly contributed, each little touch layered with care. The stern line of their mouth softened.

“So, this is why I brought him here,” Welt concludes. “Mr. Sunday wants to join us on the Express. Of course, I can’t make that decision alone.”
“I guess it’s okay,” March says as her turn comes.
That’s as much as she can give. A guess, nothing more. A coin toss. Heads, they all die in eternal stasis. Tails, they gain a companion.

Summary
Sunday's eyes are fixed on the piano. He can't explain why, but something about it is captivating.
It's been a very long time since Sunday's played piano.
"Uh, Passenger Sunday?" the Conductor repeats, and Sunday blinks, stiffening as he glances down to meet their eyes, widened slightly in expectation.
"I - sorry," he stammers, clasping his hands together before him in an effort to keep him from tugging his feathers. "I was just - I didn't know there was a piano aboard the Express."
Pom-Pom glances back at it, a small sigh leaving their lips. "Ah, yes," they say, shaking their head. "That old thing... it belonged to Akivili, many years ago."
They say this in the same tone one might say we found it on the side of the road amongst the trash and not this instrument belonged to the long-dead Aeon of the Trailblaze.
The crew of the Astral Express, as Sunday quickly learns, love music.
Or: five times Sunday played piano for a Nameless, and once he played for someone else.

Summary
Perhaps, he does care, cares so much he bleeds until there is none of him left. Perhaps, Sunday has been forged for it; to do nothing but care and feel and carry it, until he forgets where he ends and the world begins. Perhaps, there was an error in his assemblage, a sort of incorrigible flaw, and that is why the very thing he was created for - to carry the world on his shoulders towards a better future - is the one thing he failed so spectacularly at. It's a pervasive thought, that maybe to some degree he is incomplete. Though that matters not because the things he'd done were all on his own volition.
At the very least, the pain of being the sole woken being in the universe served a purpose. Now, Sunday just aches, and it's just as pointless as if he didn't.
Or, Sunday struggles with his place on Astral Express.

As wretched as the stone walls of the Shackling Prison are, Dan Heng has come to call them home.
Home, where he is protected from the hatred of his own people for a crime he does not remember committing. Home, where he may not be free, but he is safe. Home, where his dignity has died, but his pride has not.

Summary
Sunday sits, and he listens to the Dreammaster’s instructions and teachings, and he writes every word down.
It makes him feel good. He sits and scrawls, hoping his God is talking somewhere to someone and reading his frantic scribbles. He hopes that the Order might provide him the feeling of peace that he’s come to crave, and in time, it does. The world makes more sense when it is given Order, kept in line by the watchful eye of all things logical and perfectly in place.
This, surely, is the feeling he has been looking for his entire life. Finally, he knows the peace so many have spoken of. He finds it in perfection, in order, in symmetry. But behind the peace of finally belonging, Sunday still feels the watchful gaze of the Harmony, all of Their many faces turned towards him, judging his every action.

Summary
Sunday had considered himself to be many things: a brother, a devout follower, a leader, a worshipper. But never a "yearner,” no, not in this sense. Nowadays when someone uses the word ‘yearn,’ it has become commonplace for others to immediately associate the feeling with love, the feeling of pining after that which you may never attain yet persist on wanting anyways because that’s simply the corner that your desperation has forced you into—it has turned itself into a symbol of want, need, and romance due to the innumerable amounts of media pushing the narrative of yearning’s place within the world of lovers. The movies are not to blame for this, nor are the books or shows that paint this picture of love, and neither are their consumers so readily playing into their pushed whims, for they are human. Humans want. Humans love.
Sunday is not human.
