“If Zevran were spending time with my beloved, I would be worried. It is natural to feel these things.” She gently placed a hand on his knee, her face infuriatingly placid when compared with his own unease. She’d never reminded him of the Sisters that had helped raise him before, but now he felt like he was fourteen again and about to be given some sort of confusing and incomprehensible life lesson wrapped up with a vaguely relevant verse of the Chant. “But you do not need to be,” Leliana’s soft tones interrupted his rumination. “She loves you, you know.”
At that, he smiled just a little. “I know.”
She gave his knee a squeeze before she stood to leave. “You say that, but I can tell you don’t truly believe it. Not yet. I’m sure you will soon, however.” And with that incredibly cryptic and unhelpful statement, she left him sitting alone and even more adrift than before.
