Jaskier sighs, rolling his eyes. “Oh come off it, Geralt. I’ve made a life change and that’s that, it’s really no big deal. So what if I’m not where you expected me to be? I’m happy and that’s the most important part.”
“Yes. And that’s the part that concerns me.”
If someone had told Geralt that Jaskier would willingly plop himself down in some backwater town—no matter how cheerful it is—he would have walked away and turned a deaf ear. It’s something that could never be true, surely. Jaskier was made for the road, for new faces and the chance of greatness that lurks around every corner—or so he always said. Geralt personally has found that not much besides monsters lurk around dark corners, and not always of the beastly variety.
Geralt finds Jaskier in the last place he expects, and as much as Jaskier protests he has found his calling as a well-respected taverner, Geralt can't help but think something is amiss.
Oh, how he wishes he wasn't quite so right.
