An entire semester later, Vi still felt like her roommate hated her. Every time she walked into their shared dorm, she was met with a glare and a huffed sigh, as though her mere presence was enough to warrant annoyance.
Vi mumbled a greeting, to which Caitlyn ignored as she walked out the door.
It wasn’t always so cold between them.
But ever since the Christmas party before the end of the year when they had drunkenly made out, it was back to icy stares and ignored greetings.

Summary
One year after the end of the war, Vi is living Topside with Caitlyn, helping to rebuild the sister-cities, and trying to reconcile the life she had with the life she has.
Between elite Piltover ceremonies, family tensions, and the weight of Jinx’s absence, Vi stumbles into something she isn’t prepared for: a terrified street dog in Zaun who needs more care than she thinks she can give.
As Caitlyn considers a future Vi isn’t sure she is ready for, she confronts her fear that loving something has to mean losing herself and learns that care can’t be forced, only accepted.

Summary
“It still doesn’t feel real,” Caitlyn said as they walked. “That the worst is over, that we’re standing on the other side.”
A flock of starlings swept free of the cliffs, and they paused to watch them go. Caitlyn adjusted the shawl again, the same wind that kicked the surface of the water into peaks blowing the hair back from her face. Vi’s breath lodged against her ribs, like a hand over her heart.
“Maybe there is no other side,” Vi said. “Maybe it’s all one thing.”

Summary
She walked down the cobblestone path past the mausoleum and through the cemetery on her way to the parking lot, but stopped when she caught sight of a figure, tall and lithe, hovering near a headstone some twenty feet away, the white light from a distant lamppost gleaming bright enough to reveal what little pale skin was visible.
The sight didn’t startle her per se, but she was vigilant; even Jericho’s haunches were raised. Vi didn’t even realize she had stopped in her tracks, staring, until the figure turned around.
“Oh!” it said, a bit of startle in its voice. Her voice. “Sorry. Do you work here?”

Vi meets Caitlyn late one night at the cemetery she works at. What soon follows is a budding friendship over their shared love of dogs and familial grief. Perhaps they can show each other that there's more to life than guilt, that there's more to life if you go searching for it.

Summary
It wasn’t just Caitlyn’s movements that got to her; it was the way she moved. It felt intentional, like Caitlyn knew exactly what she was doing. Every bend, every reach, every sway of her hips seemed perfectly calculated to drive Vi insane. It was all too much, and it took every ounce of self-control Vi had not to jump up, pin Caitlyn against the wall, and make her forget all about the photographers, dinners and the living room altogether.
“You’ve been messing with me all day,” she said, her voice rough and low, like a growl. “You think I wouldn’t notice?”
“Oh, I noticed you noticing,” she replied, her voice soft but steady “It was kind of hard to miss, the way you were looking at me.”

Vi wakes up needy, but Caitlyn keeps her waiting all day, teasing her at every chance. When Caitlyn finally gives in, Vi's patience snaps, and she takes control in the roughest way possible, leaving no room for restraint.
