“Phainon of Aedes Elysiae,” says Mydei. He says his name with a light accent, heavy on the “o” sound. “You leave your left exposed, you don’t know when to give up, and you talk like you’ll never get another chance to do so.”
Phainon opens his mouth to protest. Mydei cuts him off.
“But I suppose by your side, it wouldn't be the worst place to die.”
His cursed blood craves destruction, he's lost all memory of his past, and in case that wasn't enough, he's been infected with a parasite that will turn him into a black tide monster. Phainon just wants a simple life where he can watch the sunrise with his friends. Instead, he has to save the world—and somehow save himself along the way.

His goal is simple: trigger the story ending by getting the two main leads together and go home.
