It wasn't always as bad as today. Sometimes, Chan could carry conversations well, joke around and make everyone laugh, tease Seungkwan and the others, and be himself. The person he was supposed to be. Lee Chan. Seventeen's maknae. Dino.
But those moments were becoming rarer and rarer. Chan could feel as he lost more of himself every day. And as each day went by, his anxiety rose. One day, they'd catch him. Find out that he wasn't himself anymore, he wasn't their Dino anymore. And then… who knew? Chan didn't, and he didn't want to either.
Seventeen wasn't a mere group he was a part of; it was a part of him. A huge one. And he had lost enough of himself. If he lost them too, he wasn't sure if there would be anything left.

Being a jujutsu sorcerer naturally meant you couldn't be too hopeful. Nor could you be too condemning. Too much hope just bred disappointment, which, in hands with the vindictive nature of humans, just gave rise to more curses. And the fewer of those, the better for Geto. Better for the whole world.
