Summary
Fate is not fickle.
Chaos will throw away years of planning for the sake of satisfying a passing whim, and Law will destroy its own work of many ages if it's found to violate some strange principle that had been forgotten by all.
But the designs of Fate cannot be changed or avoided, no matter whether those who struggle against it are man or god.
Unrelenting, unrepenting, Fate will march its puppets in a dance only it knows, for purposes almost none can fathom, and nothing will stop it.
Yes, Fate is not fickle.
But it is cruel, crueler than Chaos or Law, for it will do anything and everything in its power to accomplish its ends, even push its puppets to the End of Time itself-
-for a laugh.
And as for the two Brothers who hoped to make a world free from Fate, well...
Fate has decided to play a prank upon their work...

Summary
An AU in which Stephen resigns from Earthforce after the Minbari War and is an active Narn sympathizer during the events of B5. Also an AU where people occasionally listen to G'Kar. Takes place roughly parallel to the events of S2-S5, with dips in and out of canon. Alternating POV + a long project in developing interiority for both characters.
A lot of Atlassian world-shouldering burdens and the resulting grief, Narn worldbuilding, talking and mutual caretaking. (They also kiss eventually)
