Summary
The Narrows always had a way of pressing down on Bruce. damp, seemed to absorb light and sound, making every step feel heavier, an part of him wonders if it's it's close proximity to crime alley.
Tonight was no different. The faint hum of neon signs buzzed above the dust caked buildings and worn , and the air was thick with a rancid mix of mildew and decay. He moved silently, cape trailing, while Jason followed. They've come across an tentive truce the last few months and while he's very much aware that jason wants as little to do with him.as possible. He won't refuse an drug bust expecally when it's so close to crime alley, he'd been expecting choppy remarks the entire night, but jason had mostly been quite so far.
Something was wrong.Or Jason appendix ruptures and he makes it everyone's problem.

Summary
Will should've known better than to think California would be a safe haven.
He'd been stupid. Naive. even. As if sunshine and palm trees could change the world, could change the fact there's something wrong with him, that everyone seems to be able to sniff out.
How different he really is…There’s blood drying on his upper lip, he can still taste the copper, and he doesn't need to look in the mirror to know there's a bright ugly blue, and purple spreading like spilled paint across his lower cheekbone and upper face. He’d been so stupid.
The only difference between Indiana and Lenora is the lack of the upside down, and the fact his party isn't here to back him up.or Will is drifting in California and Boris might just be the reason he drowns.

Summary
There's a thick code of crimson coating Tyler's hand, strong and metallic in smell so overpowering that he has to hold his breathe through his mouth to keep from gagging at the scent. The bright lights of the room are overbearing sending his vision swirling and sets every nerve on his body to ten. He'd killed the woman, there's blood pooling from her throat forming a small halo of red around her body clotting in her hair, he wants to rush to her, hold the wound in hopes that enough pressure could undo what his knife had done. No, he wishes the blood on his hands were his own because at least then he'd have a way out of this hell hole, out of this enlistment. he feels his breathing studder as the man he'd come to know as commander benny glances over him, and he forces himself to breathe through his nose, he can't move. he knows he'd been called to attention.
"You did good Tyler" Benny's gravelly voice breaks through, and the elite agency standard he'd done everything right, logically, ruthlessly.
he'd been trained to kill the likes of her, she was a terrorist after all, a Renegade, someone who would have killed him in a heartbeat.
he'd killed a woman and successfully completed his loyalty to the elite agency.- Language:

Summary
The first time Lucas hears the word queer, he’s eight, sitting in church beside his father and Erica.
They’ve just finished praise singing, and honestly, it’s Lucas’s favorite part. He’s always loved music—how the hums and hymns find their way into his chest when words can’t.
He knows Kathy’s son hasn’t been to church in a while—at least not since Christmas, and that was forever ago. That’s one of the many curses that come with living in a small town: everyone knows everything.
But Kathy still comes and teaches Sunday service, and sometimes she’ll sneak him a peppermint or a butterscotch if he gets a Bible question right. So when the two women sitting in front of him start whispering after Sunday school, he can’t help but listen—since they’ve got her name in their mouth—even if his dad says to stay out of grown folks’ business.<”He doesn’t know what queer means.
But he knows it’s bad.
Something that makes you miss service and has the church ladies gossiping.
or a character study of Lucas Sinclair on growing up, self-expression, expectations, and leaving a small-town mindset behind.

Summary
You can figure out how it goes. He makes the two-foot climb to the top of the diving board. He looks down into the water below, and though the red letters along the edge of the pool all declare obnoxiously “12 FEET!”, he thinks to himself that it didn’t really look that deep. He thinks that, clearly, everyone was just trying to hold him down. Stop him from flying. Stop him from breaking free. And so Duke does it—he dives. For about two seconds, it feels good because it’s just him, the water, and the glowing warmth of his own triumph.
Then he sinks.
Of course, he sinks. He couldn’t swim.Bookmarked by Ammon_writes

Summary
Duke Thomas. 16 years old. Parents currently in group facility for jokerization victims and deemed unfit to care for Duke. Aggressive with perceived authority figures. History of fights at schools and home. Prone to elopement.
Duke's read his file before--has heard Tammy complain about his problematic behaviors nearly every meeting. As he burned his way through every foster home in the city, Duke knew he'd run out of people willing to let him stay. When Tammy presented the ultimatum, Bruce Wayne or Juvie, it wasn't even a choice.
Now, 8 months in and having already passed his 2 month record of longest stay at a foster home, Duke finds himself wondering if maybe he could plant roots with the Waynes. They seem to accept him so easily, already calling him their brother and wanting to include him in family events. He may not be theirs, but maybe that would be okay.
Of course, Duke should have known better. When the Wayne children start asking Bruce when he's going to pull the trigger to adopt Duke already, he realizes that they only wanted him if he was going to be theirs. Feeling trapped and unwelcome, Duke decides fuck it.
He runs.

Summary
Bruce is being haunted by his son, and it catches him off guard. To call it a punch in the face would be an understatement. It feels more like a baseball bat. He's an Atlas, the entire weight of the world dropped onto his shoulders and he deserves to bear it.
So he knows he deserves pain, knows that karma does collect, but he never thought retribution would come in the form of, in hot pursuit of a criminal, turning a corner and catching a glimpse of Jason standing across the street.

Summary
Duke Thomas never really expected to become a vigilante, but he’s never gone back on that decision, no matter what’s happened. Even finding out that he has the meta gene didn’t dissuade him, but in all honesty until Jason started hanging around he didn’t have to deal with it all that often.
Jason would really like it if the things happening to and around him would stop making him feel like he’s been put in the washing machine. Sure, he’s gained some new information and gotten a cool experience or two, but it would be nice if there weren’t so many consequences.
Beth is a bit overwhelmed, in all honesty, and the casualness of the Bats when talking about things that are very much Not Casual and Should Be A Concern is definitely not helping. On the plus side, she gets to see two of them in action. Actually, make that four. That’s a good thing, right?
Right?

Summary
“Jay Morgan, thirty years old, registered foster parent, approved for emergency placements.”
“…Foster parent?” Jason repeated, incredulous.
“Mr Thomas has been placed under your care effective immediately,” Laura continued, flipping a page. “Temporary arrangement pending review. You’ll be assigned a caseworker—me—for the duration of his placement. I’ll be conducting regular home visits, both scheduled and unscheduled, so I strongly advise you to ensure the premises remain suitable.”
She stepped forward. Close enough that Jason had to shift back a half-step or get bowled over entirely by this woman who was at least two heads shorter than him, and in doing so, she brought the kid—Duke—with her.
“Hey—no, hold on a second—”
OR:With Batman gone, Gotham is falling apart. But Jason has bigger problems. Like this kid who just got dumped on his doorstep due to a case of mistaken identity. What was his name again? Oh yeah— Duke Thomas.
(Shut up Tim! Jason did not have Bruce's adoption disease!)
