Summary
Rhae turned as he was in the middle of the second time singing it, hugging her sister a bit closer. Then already his voice weak and raspy, but he could see Daella still awake so he continued singing it a third time. In the darkness of the room, only one of the candles still lit, his sisters weren't visible very well, but Daeron didn't need to see them. He felt like shit, but the fact that they weren't in King's Landing with the Great Spring Sickness… he was relieved about it. He thought of his dead grandfather as he sang, watching Daella nuzzle her nose against her sister's neck, and another tear broke free of his eyes, flowing down over his cheek and disappearing into his coat.

Not that he would ever allow anyone to see his phone, but his own lockscreen was also a photo from that day. Not the group photo of the siblings, he didn’t care for them that much, but rather a selfie Daeron had taken on a whim. Both of them were freshly wet from the ocean water and Aerion was sure he had sand in his eyes but it was the last good photo they had together.

"Not nearly as drunk as I’d like to be." As though to emphasise this, Daeron lifted the wineskin to his mouth. Without conscious thought, Maekar slapped it out of his son’s hand before it could touch his lips. It flopped to the ground next to Daeron’s bay palfrey, liquid seeping out and painting the grass red.
"Do you think this funny? Your brother is missing!"
Daeron looked at the wine spilling from the skin longingly.
"Yet, the first thing you demand to know from me is whether I’m drunk. The disappointment must be quite heavy for it to outweigh your concern for Egg."
The Targaryen caravan is departing Ashford, but Egg has run away. Again. Maekar is not amused.
