~ a person or thing that one greatly wishes for.
All his life, Lance has only sought one thing: connection. All he ever does is put himself out there, trying to get an ounce of love back from what he puts out into the world, trying to be understood, needed, and wanted.
But as much as he keeps trying, as much as he tries to find his place in the puzzle of life, he's starting to lose hope there's room for him at all.
Until a head of shimmering gold guides his way.
Or: A rewrite of Bones, including my OC. Since I hate how the show portrayed Lance most times, and I severely dislike Daisy and their relationship. I took matters into my own hands.

The sound of his phone startled him awake.
3:12 am.
The caller ID was Ed, of course it was. With a groan, Izzy picked up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
“Ed? Do you know what fucking time it is?”
“Izzy! I might need another favour mate.”
His words sounded slurred, and he already knew what Ed was going to ask.
This is a semi rewrite of my fic 'I'm sorry I'm the one you love' for a school assignment. It is shorter and slightly rewritten, including my original art.

“She hasn’t gone to work since Thursday afternoon. Something is wrong.” Izzy said, dread seeping into his bones.
“Let’s not jump to any conclusions, shall we? Maybe she simply has her phone on silent!” Stede said, trying to lighten the mood with his disgustingly positive mindset. Ed looked at him with a face that said ‘Don’t say that’ but it was already too late.
“Stede, you don’t get it. In the 22 years that I have known her it has not taken her longer than 15 minutes to respond to a text, ever. It is almost fucking impossible for her to miss calls, and when she does I am guaranteed to have my phone ringing within the fucking second. Something is fucking wrong. We need to go check up on her. Now.” Izzy was almost yelling at this point. Hoping, pleading with his eyes that his partners would understand the gravity of the situation. Thank god they did.

When Stede attends boarding school, he and Izzy write to each other until they reunite as adults. Years later, Izzy opens a circus and falls in love with a certain trapezist. Little does he know that Stede also falls in love with said trapezist. How will these idiots navigate these blooming feelings?

Summary
When Steve was 5 he had known what love felt like for the first time in his life. It came in the form of soft warm hands holding him up and tucking him in and it smelled like vanilla. This time he wouldn't get yelled at for stumbling and cutting his knee, no this time the soft hands would gently scoop him up and help him get cleaned up. He would get to choose the color of his band-aid and would get a magical kiss that could heal even the worst of pains. And she wouldn't yell at him for crying, she would simply hold him tight until his feelings subsided.
Or, Steve had a nanny as a child. (And also parents that are probably way worse than in canon.)
