Summary
The lack of people did not mean there was nothing waiting inside. Not when the air grew stale and faint tremors shook the earth with each step leading Yuji closer to the shrine’s front doors. An unnatural pressure had taken hold of this place. Its grip refused to falter, as the enshrined spirit had been presented this land as their place of worship as well as their chain to the physical world. An unease plagued Yuji’s chest as a result. His movements were hesitant as he pushed his way inside to be met with an unnatural darkness. If only his lantern had not been blown out by the wind, as he possessed nothing to battle such horrid weather in an effort to rekindle the flame. Now that he was inside a place devoid of anything but the howling sound echoing from outside, he could not even see his own fingers in front of his face, let alone search through his tools in an effort to start a fire.
“This shrine… The kami they worshiped must be of the earth.”
❤ Yuji seeks shelter in an abandoned shrine for the night. Sometime later, Sukuna does the same.

"So let me get this straight," Roy leaned back in his chair as if the physical toll of processing this information was too much. "You were thirteen yesterday, but you fused with your future self and now look eighteen, the military is full of monsters, we need to kill the Fuhrer to save the country, and you've apparently time-traveled to tell us all this."
Edward grimaced. "I didn't time-travel on purpose, and I'm fucking twenty-eight, you bastard."
Roy cracked the smallest smile at the retort, and the expression shot an arrow straight through Edward's chest. Shit. He didn't know it was possible, but his heart was breaking more and more each time Roy looked his way.
"I see your fond nickname for me hasn't changed over the years." He chuckled.
Edward felt something inside him break. The realization barely hit him at that moment; Edward was completely and unequivocally *still* in love with this man.
Fuck.(AKA time travel fic where Roy and Ed DID end up together originally, but it didn't work out so well. Edward is hurting, Roy is trying, and both are trying to not make the same mistakes-- though it's an extra challenge considering Edward won't tell anyone what even happened in the future--)

She shrugged. Like him, she seemed to be operating on a limited capacity for niceties. “Whichever one works.”

Chronica’s gaze shifts down to the lighter. “Would you mind smoking somewhere else?” she asks with a fair bit of scorn. “It smells horrible, and the smoke is harmful to plants, you know.”
Wolfwood already has a retort ready on his tongue when she drops that little piece of information. He’s trying to quit, he’s smoking ten cigarettes a day now instead of thirty- except he’s still doing it around Vash. Who’s still a plant, even if he used up all his mystical energy. Who is apparently being harmed by the cigarette smoke that Wolfwood has been blowing into his face, kissing straight into his lungs, sometimes even filling their motel room with a horrible chain smoking habit.
How many times has he smoked around Vash? It’s got to be in the hundreds- maybe even thousands.
Wolfwood feels vaguely uneasy.
wolfwood finds out smoking is bad for plants. then he remembers that vash is also technically a plant. he contemplates his choices- in that order.
