Summary
In which King Augustus Valian has trust issues, Azune has other types of issues, and flirting is hard but sometimes you can more or less skip that part.
*
"We'll escort him out of the building," Varen says, and Azune glances quickly across at Murray, pleading. She notices, thank the ancients, and a message flickers into his mind as well as the opportunity to reply to her.
None of that was real. We all need to talk. Do you understand, none of it was-
I believe you, Azune responds, as gentle as he can manage. I hear you. We cannot lose him in an alley before he gets to his door, Murray. Do I go?
A pause. Then, reluctant:
Hurry back.

Long before Gansey died, before the possibility was cemented as real to anyone they knew, Ronan had been afraid of it.
----
Gansey died. He's here now, but he'd been dead, he'd been gone. They'd almost lost him forever. No one's dealing with it well, especially Gansey and Ronan.

Summary
"Dead fucking gods, how had this all gone so wrong? Alogar had just convinced Azune to sneak out of the house with a bottle of Uncle Thjazi’s yhargraz, taking him out past the decrepit old amphitheater to the Tintazy woods. With Thjazi and Thimble and Thaisha all at home at the moment, on top of Elodie and Hero coming over, it was the only way they’d get some privacy. It was only supposed to be a little bit of teenage rebellion, which he thought Azune was in desperate need of, given how nervous the other boy seemed to be of doing something wrong. Alogar just wanted to get him used to the idea of not doing everything the adults said. That was healthy.
He thought that in the end Azune had only agreed to come to protect him. Thank the Land he had. They’d already been deep in the woods, and Alogar deep in his cups, when they realized Hero had followed them. And that was before they’d gotten turned around heading back, and before the twilight air started to stink of decay as the dead closed in."

Summary
In which Demodus Blix has a terrible no-good very bad day (and also a new crush, but that's none of your damn business), Azune Nayar has moments of unpleasant introspection followed by moments of reassuring conversation, and Murray Mag'nesson wonders if they are going to get out of this sewer anytime soon (because she is an inch away from murdering at least one of her two favourite ex-students).
Now with an unplanned epilogue in which Azune gets a man fired, and Demodus should not find that as endearing as he does.

Summary
“I have ways of remembering who I am,” Azune says. “Of keeping both of us safe. Of keeping the body safe. I can bear you without losing myself, if you trust me.”
Bolaire shakes his head vehemently. “You don’t know what I am—not truly.”
“I know exactly what you are,” Azune says, soft but unyielding. “You are my friend, and Hal’s friend—but you don’t want to hear that right now, so let’s speak on your terms:
“You are a weapon. But more than that: you are a weapon that wields itself. A weapon doesn’t need to understand its cause, but the wielder does, or the force behind it ends up warped and wasted. You want to fight for what you feel for Halandil Fang? Good. Let me help you name it.”
