Summary

Miranda studied the tie closest to Nigel’s wrist, a patternless option in tangerine. She picked it up and beckoned Andrea over with a bend of one finger. Once close enough, she draped the tie over her assistant's left shoulder to compare it against the large apricot-toned hibiscus on the print of her blouse. It was exactly the color she was looking for, and as Miranda smoothed the fabric with her hand, she could feel Andrea’s heart thundering beneath her palm. A pink blush crept up her chest and neck, and as it made its way to her cheeks, Miranda silently admired how lovely the hue was there.

Summary

She knew the anatomy of a scandal, how quickly a narrative could be manufactured, and how much harder it was to dismantle one once it started to feel true.
