Summary

It was too soon. He wasn’t supposed to go into heat.
Seungmin squeezed his eyes shut and tried to will it away. Not now. Not tonight. Not while Felix was already deep into his own heat. He didn’t want to be the reason everything shifted. Everyone was already doing so much. They were already taking care of someone. Felix needed them more than he did.
If he took the suppressants now, his heat might not hit fully. He could go to work tomorrow, get through the week, and no one would ever have to know. It was the right thing to do.
It was an easy choice to make.

“We found him. We found Felix.”
Chan’s breath is stolen from him. He drops the phone onto the ground and collapses, knees hitting the hard tiles of his bathroom. Somehow, through his tears and his panicked sobs, Chan manages to yell out the news.
“He’s safe! They found him!”

Summary
Chan knew he was dreaming. He had been here many times before.
He was too massive for the crumbling world around him, too vast to fit into the landscape of ruin and desolation. The stench of decay and dying fire surrounded him from all sides, smoke washing over his scales and trying to pry itself beneath them to sink into his skin.
And there it was. The flicker of light about to go out; the life force of the last mortal whom he called ‘mine’.

Just before the doors closed, a tall man stepped inside with dark scrubs, a stethoscope looped loosely around his neck, jaw set tight, and his brow furrowed in an expression that practically radiated ‘don’t talk to me.’
Felix straightened automatically, recognizing him from the whispered conversations at the nurse’s station. Dr. Bang Chan, the new pediatric attending everyone said was brilliant but… perpetually scowling.
It was the first time Felix had seen him in person.
