Shen Yuan’s smugness lasted up until Shen Qingqiu whisked him off to the Bamboo House, where Shen Yuan was meant to brew and serve his shizun his first pot of tea as official head disciple. Shen Qingqiu didn’t dump it on his head, thankfully, but he did give Shen Yuan a rather unnerving warning:
“If you have the nerve to present qianyuan in the future, this master will make sure you regret it for the rest of your life.”
Yikes! What the hell was someone supposed to say to that? Got it, I’ll make sure to control this completely uncontrollable fact of nature? Talk about unfair!

The reporter had taken his words in the complete opposite way than Ilya had meant them, but he supposed he was too committed to stop now. “Of course not.”
“Of course.” The reporter parroted, laughing nervously.
“Obviously, we are already in a relationship.”

In Ilya’s rookie season, he impulsively jokes about dating Shane to an invasive reporter. Then, he just… keeps doing it, since publicly announcing it enough times that everyone writes it off as a joke is a great way to hide a clandestine relationship.

Shane didn't manage to turn around fast enough, too busy watching this man- face shadowed by a hat and sweaty in a white t-shirt- bending for a water bottle chucked on the ground. Shane watched him straighten up and tip the water bottle to his mouth. It was completely empty, just a few drops splattering on the man's chin before he gave up, dropping the bottle back onto the dry ground.
"Do you want some more?" Shane called out.
Ilya glanced up at him, a lazy smile crossing his face as he raised his hand to wipe the water from his mouth,
"Oh yes, thank you."
