The Triwizard Tournament forces his name into a binding contract, granting him a freedom he was never supposed to have. Then, a notice from Gringotts reveals magic buried deep within him, layered and deliberate, shaping more than just his power.
With it comes clarity.
The world he trusted begins to shift. Alliances grow uncertain. Enemies become something far more complicated. And the line between guidance and control begins to disappear entirely.
Because if the light has been controlling him all along, then perhaps it is time to step out of it.

Summary
The order meeting had gone well, and James Potter ran over the details in his head as he cleared cups of half-drunk tea from his dining table. He had gathered a tidy stack of cups to deliver to the kitchen when an enormous crack sounded throughout the room, as if an entire army had apparated into his house.
Startled, he set down the teacups, and began to urgently move towards the entrance hall, where his wife was seeing off their guests. He had to make sure that Lily was ok, and if Dumbledore or Moody were still hanging around they might be able to offer an explanation for the sound. If it was some kind of mass-apparation, they could very well be under attack.
He had just reached the doorway when a dark shape materialized from above, and then James was on the floor, staring at a familiar looking, dark-haired boy who had fallen squarely on-top of him.

The funny thing is, Stiles actually has no idea who just climbed through his window. Doesn't really care, either. All he wants to do is catch a few hours of uninterrupted sleep before the nightmares drag him back to consciousness.
Again.
Still, he expects some sort of snarky response if it's Derek or Peter. Or maybe the vocal embodiment of Scott's puppy dog eyes if it's his best friend.
He doesn't expect several seconds of silence.
And he definitely doesn't expect the sudden and unmistakable thump of a body hitting the ground.

Jokes on them because this was the last push. The straw that broke the camel's back. Harry closed his eyes. He was so tired of being shaped. Of being pushed forward into dangerous situations because someone else decided it was necessary. Of being told, implicitly and explicitly, that his wants and needs came second to what the world (a world that had abandoned him several times already) needed from him.
But what if he just… stopped? Stopped being their Golden Boy? Stopped pushing himself to meet their impossible expectations. Stopped being the Boy-Who-Lived? What if, for the first time in his life, he decided something for himself?

Summary
There was something about Regulus Black that no one knew apart from those in his trusted circle, which included four of his best friends and two of his cousins, that Regulus was absolutely not who he seemed to be. He wasn't on the so-called Dark side that would eventually follow the Dark Lord and he wasn't on the side where his brother stood with his friends along with Dumbledore, claiming to be the beacon of hope. Regulus Black knew how games were played, chess was his strong suit after all and he was the queen on the board, much stronger than the king himself.
OR
The Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix aren't the only organisations around.... Regulus has now made an option for himself, he liked to call it 'The Circle'.
