He keeps his friendship and unresolved feelings with childhood best friend Mike Wheeler at arms length. That is until the florist moves to the city himself. Summary
It’s hot in Hawkins. Well, maybe. Mike doesn’t know. He’s too busy nearly 4000km away on the coast of California, celebrating the last week of summer he has with his friends before they return to university. Another thing he doesn’t know is if he can still swim after years of not being in water, or if he’s anywhere near strong enough to resist the riptide his parents warned him about. But what’s a little proving to Max that he’s not a pussy and could go deeper in the water than her? Nothing bad could happen, right?
OR Mike finds out he is in fact not stronger than a riptide and takes advantage of the ‘afterlife’ when it blesses him with a cute boy, even if he is a little… fishy.

Summary
Mike Wheeler is a clown at the carnival and has to ask Will Byers– his best friend who volunteered to be a face painter– to fix his makeup on multiple occasions. Eventually he asks him to come over, some stuff happens, they start dating, and a few days later they go on a carnival date!
Or
Mike and Will volunteer at the carnival, Mike asks Will to come over to help him with his clown makeup, but it doesn't go quite as planned... It's even better.
