Summary
Watching him move – sometimes, it made Bobby think Raz didn't weigh anything at all. He made it look effortless. Like he was made of some other kind of thing than bones and blood, the same kind of matter as the stars swimming on the edge of Bobby’s vision as he staggered onwards. Raz ran and he moved and he flew, like gravity was nothing at all to him.
The blow had come out of nowhere. Bobby had just watched in dumb shock as Raz fell out of the air, and hit the ground hard, and didn't get up again.
An empty stairwell's not a great place to try and fix a dislocated shoulder, but sometimes you have to make do.

Casca hated him. It was an undeniable fact.
He reached up, teasing at the length of pink fabric wrapped around his arm. The arrow wound was bound tight, tight enough to stop the bleeding. His skin around it felt numb, but he could still feel the ghost of her warm hands against him.
Muttering a curse, he rolled over onto his uninjured side, pulling the blanket higher around his shoulders and willing his exhausted mind to sleep.

The month of October blew in cold and brisk to Seasoning City. It felt like summer had only been a few short weeks ago, and the clear days still carried the memory of August sunshine. But the blue sky was sharper, and the daylight hours shorter, and your breath coiling in white mist in the mornings was a clear sign that the frost would be drawing in before too long.
On the bank of the river, in the golden-hour five-o-clock twilight, Emi was trying to fold the autumn day up like an origami crane into a poem of three short sentences.
Emi tries to write a poem to help get over a recent spate of writer's block. Mob doesn't know much about poetry, but he tries his best to help anyway.

Bob put down the Grulovian plant he’d been interrogating, fixing Helmut with a stare.
“What?”
“We can put together some snacks for them and the Feelmobile’s all fixed up, might as well take her for a spin,” he said. “We can drive them down to the lake and take the afternoon off. All Raz is talking about lately is learning to swim, he and Lili will be thrilled.”
“Lili?” said Bob, and scratched behind his ear with a trowel. “I dunno, Helmut, I don’t – I don’t think she’d wanna spend time with me.”
“Please, of course she will,” said Helmut gently, nudging against Bob’s ankle.
“I – I don’t think Truman will want me around her...”
“It’s been six weeks babe,” added Helmut quietly. “You’re doing good.”
