Probably because he did, if he’d been talking to the rest of the team, anyone at the Garrison, or any of Lance’s siblings. Lance hadn’t left home since he’d been released from the mandatory medical evaluation at the Garrison after the last solo mission that nearly killed him. It’d been nearly a year, and his feet hadn’t left the family farm’s soil since, which was exactly how Lance wanted it.

Summary
Training with the commission was always intense for Hawks. They expected nothing but the best out of him and gave harsh punishments if they felt he was underperforming. What was left after over a decade of said training was, in their eyes, the perfect hero. Midoriya Izuku, Dabi, and Shigaraki Tomura accepted death, they wanted nothing more than to just be done with it all. No more fighting. No more death.
