The Barsen'thor is not being a completely placid Jedi. That can only mean something is seriously wrong. Lana's sure the spy did something wrong (debatable, but understandable, he's a disaster and the husband, so, points for logic), Theron thinks he didn't do anything wrong (hilariously true, for once, but won't save him). The Commander is—fine; Lana & Theron are spiralling over the whole thing while completely disregarding the obvious signs, because the only thing their minds can register are Galaxy Level Threats. Aric, Torian and Koth are sitting on the corner, finding the whole obliviousness thing hilarious.

Bel doesn't ask for favours. It's not something he does. Ever. If he cannot take what he wants for himself, then he's only asking for trouble, owing someone later to get that. Sometimes though, you get the chance to take something small for yourself, against a galaxy that is always asking for sacrifice and loss. Sometimes the debt being owed is worth the chance to have that one thing for yourself.
Perhaps the scales have balanced enough, perhaps he's sacrificed enough to have something selfish. It won't be easy, it never is, especially not when he's long since given up on managing to keep anything personal and sacred. Or maybe it's just going to take other people taking it for him, and making sure he has his own little piece of happiness. If that's the case, then he'll just have to make sure whatever debts they owe for doing him such a kindness get paid in full.
Part 4 of Belville's Canon, probably best read with the rest of the series, but it isn't directly required to read them in order

Four thousand years before the rise of the empire stood a different sith empire, one ruled by Darth Revan. The Jedi presume him as a villain, but is he truly a villain in the mess of the galaxy. In order to stop Revan the jedi send a strike team to capture him only for it to take a turn and the jedi to lose their most valuable asset Bastila Shan a prodigy within the jedi order for her battle meditation abilities. Revan sees something different in this young woman a reason to keep her alive, however no matter what something deep inside his mind, he knows that there's another threat. A threat that would destroy the galaxy if given a chance. but where this threat is located no one knows. Revan is deterred to protect the galaxy even if it doesn't see him as a hero but a concuror, but he'll do anything to save it even give up his family.
This is a retelling of Kotor (2), Revan novel, and SWTOR.
