Although he wouldn’t openly admit it, Vidcund did have a soft spot for the kid.
However, the one thing Vidcund could count on was that his role of “no nonsense” uncle always had a forseeable end. When the repetition of the bright, loud mess on TV proclaiming to be children’s programming became too much to bear, Lazlo was happy to take over. Late night feedings and fussings were delt with by the parents; the barrier that was Vidcund’s bedroom door meant that his late night research and even later sleeping schedule would go mostly undisturbed. Yes, the addition of Tycho certainly made the day to day more interesting, and Vidcund had definitely found that his overall mood had improved over the past year thanks in part to Tycho’s prescence. Nevertheless, he certainly did not envy Pascal’s position as primary caregiver.
He could never be a parent, of that much he was sure.

Similar to the first book, this one basically reads as a novelization of the third season, while adding my own changes and including Varian in every episode.
