A more rigorous examination of the events of 0 BBY will show that, while the year is just as pivotal to Galactic history as it usually assumed, the emphasis has often been misplaced. In truth, while the Death Star project did prove to be central to the Galactic Empire’s undoing, the fatal blow came not from DS-01’s destruction at the hands of Luke Skywalker, but from the political implications of the project writ large. It would be going too far to say that the Battle of Yavin was irrelevant, but it would be accurate to say that by the time the Battle Station arrived in the Yavin System, the balance in the Galactic Civil War had already irrevocably shifted, though in ways that would not become apparent for months and years to come.

Contrary to his peers' nagging and what the ranking charts say, he never stopped chasing after what he wanted. So tonight too, he'll gather the remnants in the wreckage of his heart, sleep the shitty day off, and be grateful for what everyone else doesn't see. Unless the universe has other plans for him after all.

[NON-FICTION FANWORK] Dungeon Meshi is full of vivid and complex world-building. When you take all the information in the manga as a whole, there are clear and consistent patterns in what real world cultures the author was inspired by, and how she arranges them on the Dungeon Meshi world map.
In this essay, I will catalog and explain every real world cultural reference I was able to identify in the manga, including character and location names, historical and mythological references, clothing, and of course food!
WARNING: This essay is full of spoilers for the entire Dungeon Meshi manga, all the extra materials, and the anime. Disturbing and violent moments that happen in the series are described, discussed and analyzed. The essay also discusses real-life world history and mythology, which contains sensitive subjects like war, death, slavery, abortion, child killing, sexual assault, incest, and bestiality. He'd stood out from every other Pippins for as long as he could remember, for better or for worse. Not just physically, what with the green eyes and everything; but even his personality didn't quite match up with the rest.
Where they'd be tossing thousands of dollars into blind boxes and gacha machines, he'd be trying to design his own clothes or learn a new skill. Where they'd be selling illegal merchandise and getting tossed behind bars, he'd be doing the best he could to scrape by using, to everyone else, "strangely" legal means. Where they'd be crafting money-making schemes, he'd be stringing together new information to try and understand these asinine Worlds they lived in that nobody else seemed to question other than him.
Really, why WAS he the only one like this? Every other Pippins was exactly the same. Every other Pippins had red eyes. Was there something wrong with him?
Or, my take on how the green Pippins fell into the role of Mike.
