Comment on The Instruments of Their Own Destruction

  1. I kinda hope they're not like, full, kill all the gods mode. That annoyed me about another fic, where they targeted Artemis when Artemis was literally planning to stay out of things and not oppose them. I'm pretty sure Poseidon would side with Percy no matter what, Hermes might go along with it, Hades might or might not, Apollo would side with them post-ToA but before ToA is up in the air, Artemis seems likely to side with them or stay neutral, Dionysus could go either way (since he genuinely does care about the demigods, but he's also an asshole in denial), and so on.

Idk I think Annabeth is the one with the ambition to do something with the power that Percy holds, while Percy would mostly want to not be killed for it. It's a bit more complicated, but I think they do have an ability to complete each other.

Also, I'm just glad that Percy doesn't have to feel like he's a monster. I mean he kind of is cruel for enjoying it, but it's understandable. I really hate how that whole thing was never really addressed in canon.

    1. I totally feel you on your gripes with that fic in question, and dark Percabeth going straight to murk Artemis. Fics like that were actually among the inspiration for me starting this work in the first place, as I'd exhausted the current supply of dark Percy and dark Annabeth fics, found myself with unfulfilled plot angles/character focuses that I wished existed, then realized I could just...write them into existence. And here we are!

      1. Yeah. idk i think there's often a need for dark Percabeth to be full on evil. why can't we get more fics with anti-god rebellions that aren't like, moustache twirling?
