I am legitimately sick to my stomach reading this. The anticipation, the worry, the absolute heart-clenching hope and joy of having them come home, all of it. I am so happy these boys made it home, every single one. I could barely breathe during the transfer, though I had more or less pictured that being the solution to the lack of docking. The tension though, and the last little bit of Daichi trying to be the heroic sacrifice. My god man I am just. Wow.
I wonder, though. Was Crane named such for the thousand folded cranes to make a wish? Was he the embodiment of Kenma's wish to bring him home?
Honestly just... Thank you. This was everything I had hoped for and more.
Crane was named after the Crane's Eye, more broadly named after the song "Tsuru No Sugomori" (or "Crane's Nest") that represents the Japanese culture on the Voyager that we sent into space! It's part of a continued theme of the story echoing back the idea that humans yeeted a time capsule into the void never to know what happened to it. More immediately it represents Kenma's desire to be (physically) closer to Kuroo and have the same things surrounding him as Kuroo does. They're both being watched by a crane :).
