Okay, now that's out of my system. I'll try to tell you why I loved this little tale so very much.

I love an impressionistic story filled with beautiful moments. And that's just what you have crafted here.

Starting with - "Crowley could see it then: how easy it would be to say yes, to have one of them reach for their power and file backdated paperwork in the register's office. And just as easily, somehow, he knew that wasn't what he wanted.

He reached down and covered Aziraphale's hand with his own, as a signal to prevent the angel from completing the miracle with a customary snap."

Crowley removing a wine stain from a picnic blanket that remained a souvenir.

This - "Aziraphale twisted the wine glass around in his fingers. "They keep on living, even when they lose each other," he said, his eyes on his glass. "Promising forever like it's theirs to give."

That beautiful Jane Austen quote. Holding hands while crossing the street and swinging their arms while beaming. Crowley talking about taking Aziraphale's incorporation back to heaven. And many more.

You strung these quiet little moments together like pearls on a necklace. It brought me so much joy.

Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us.

Thank you for this extremely lovely comment! I had so much fun stringing together these little stories about how marriage has changed and evolved over the millennia, just like these two did, and then just surrounding it all with love. :) And thanks again for your rec on tumblr!
