Well, it's not like the emergency contact scenario where Chillyfu loses his memory and Hannibal pretends they had a romantic relationship all along, they did develop a romantic relationship here under extremely Dubious Consent scenario, and in such a slow boil way that Chilton never thought it was wrong...or he didn't care it was wrong. At the time Hannibal snatched him up, Chilton had just burnt a lot of bridges and didn't even know where he was going to go...or who he was going to be, he was trying to forget how to speak Spanish and figure out a new accent. During his time as Hannibal's 'guest'...he forgot how to SPEAK English because he haven't spoken it in over a year, but it's not like he couldn't relearn it again since he kept reading, especially once he hears Hannibal start speaking it. Ha, maybe by the time they get to Baltimore, Frederick speak heavily accented English and that's why he usually doesn't speak, and Frederick just doesn't like Hannibal's usual dinner guests.
