Are there any plans to make the archive able to support the creation and display of branching "Choose your own adventure" style of texts, either by individuals or as collaborations? It's not terribly important, but I'm curious.
It's not something we've ever considered in the past (as far as I recall) but that doesn't mean we wouldn't consider it going forward if people were interested in it (we're just about to post another post inviting people to contribute ideas like this, in fact). Do you have any ideas about how it would look/work?
Hi, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had been traveling. Anyway, I'm not really sure how it would work aside from having multiple options at the bottom of each section instead of just a "next chapter" button. Part of the problem is that I've never seen it done really well anywhere before, so I don't know of any sites to hold up as examples of getting everything right. I suppose there would need to be the option of setting who had permission to add new branches to the story, just the original author, a select group of pre-approved authors, or anyone with an AO3 account. Maybe the original author would get moderating privileges similar to in a forum or message board in order to prevent spam or abusive stuff getting posted. Other than that, I hadn't really thought it through.
